Characteristic uses of corundum
The hardness of white corundum is slightly higher than brown corundum, but the toughness is slightly poor grinding easy to cut into the workpiece, good sharpness, small heat, grinding ability, high efficiency, the price is higher than brown corundum.
Suitable for grinding high hardness of steel, such as high speed steel, high carbon steel, quenching steel, alloy steel, etc.

Brown alumina
Brown corundum appearance is brown, the content in 94.5% -97%. With the characteristics of high hardness, large toughness, sharp particle front, relatively low price, suitable for grinding processing of high tensile strength of metal, in the absence of other abrasive materials, generally can be replaced by it.
Widely used in the coarse grinding of ordinary steel, such as: carbon steel, general alloy steel, calcined iron, hard bronze, etc. The secondary abrasive of brown corundum is often used as rice grinding wheel and resin cutting grinding wheel. Sand tile, sandcloth, sandpaper, etc.
White corundum is made of high quality aluminum oxide powder as raw material, refined and crystalline by electromelting, with high purity, good self-sharpness, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, and stable thermal performance. Its hardness is slightly higher than brown corundum, slightly lower toughness, high purity, good self-sharpness, strong grinding ability, small heat value, high efficiency, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, high temperature and thermal stability. Made of grinding tools, suitable for grinding high carbon steel, high speed steel and stainless steel and other fine-grained abrasive materials can also be used in precision casting and advanced refractory materials.
The white corundum has a Mohs hardness of 9.0, a packing density of 1.55-1.95g/cm3, a true density of 3.95 g/cm3, and a volume density of 3.60
The Mohs hardness of brown corundum is between 9.0 and 9.2 grades.
